It was the unusual and exceptional princess who fought in wars. There is very little historical proof as to what they looked like, or dressed like. There are, however, festivals and masks that have depicted these warrior prinesses. It is based upon these festival costumes that the arist has depicted this piece.
Carved in a wonderful example of Nigerian Ebony, the piece is about 17 inches tall, 6 wide, and weighs 5 pounds.
You will note the angled base, so it does not stand on its own. The mask is designed to be hung on a wall, or it could be put on a stand.
